Entrepreneurship

As I sit here on my couch and scroll social media, I am EXTREMELY thrilled by the number of Black Business Owners (BBO) and entrepreneurs on my timelines. Since I now fall into that category it led me to want to quantify how many BBO there were in the US in 2020. To my surprise, the last time BBO were reported was back in 2015 and at that time the US Census reported that there were 2.6 million. If I went by that number with today's population, that's less than 13% BBO!

It made me wonder why haven't there been any updates to those figures? Why don't we have more BBO & entrepreneurs?

Makes perfect sense! I chose NOT to take out any loans and am funding everything on my own dime. It was a hard decision, but I don't regret it. I also didn't know BBO or entrepreneurs that could help me get started and that definitely could've been a deterrent. Luckily I didnt let it get the best of me. So now I want to educate and be a resource for others! They say you're never more than 1 step away from the next millionaire.

When I say lack of resources I mean they don’t have the money to start a business or don’t have anyone to educate them on how to start

As an entrepreneur, I can definitely agree with fear of failing. Can you elaborate more about lack of resources? Are you referring to financial or social?

I think we don’t have have more BBO and entrepreneurs for two reasons: (1) fear of failing and (2) lack of resources
